Crowns and Bridgework
Crowns and Bridgework
Crowns
Very heavily restored or discoloured and misshapen teeth may need porcelain
crowns placed over them.
There are a range of different forms of crowns. When the correct crown type
is used, possibly in conjunction with veneers/ bleaching, an optimal aesthetic
result can be achieved.
Click here for photographic examples of effective use of crowns.
Bridgework
This
consists of crowning two or more heavily restored teeth that have a space
between them.
An artificial porcelain tooth can then be hung in this space to fill it supported by the adjacent crowns.
If this space does not
have heavily restored teeth on either side we will discuss the provision of
an implant
- see Implant
dentistry.
